The story so far

Chicago, 2020

Sam Varma is a British freelance live/studio guitarist, vocalist, photographer, YouTuber and international man of mystery. Original member of legendary Chicago private event band Maggie Speaks and hanger-on for anything else he finds cool.

He grew up bouncing between Mexico City and a small alpine village in Austria, being exposed to a kaleidoscope of music and culture.

Graduate of Musicians Institute, Hollywood, CA. Performed, recorded, and toured in the U.S. and internationally with countless indie and major label artists including Dogstar, Kicking Harold, Bret Domrose, and Denise Marsa.

Currently appearing on the album “Rock ‘n’ Roll Disease” by legendary Geffen Records artist Warrior Soul, the hotly anticipated follow-up to his role on 2017’s “Back On The Lash”.

The last year has seen him share the stage with Steve Augeri (Journey), Fran and Anton Cosmo (Boston), John Elefante (Kansas), Randall Hall (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Mickey Thomas (Starship), Theo Peoples (Temptations/Four Tops), Art Alexakis (Everclear), Ton-Loc, Mike Reno (Loverboy), Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Michael Glabicki (Rusted Root), and many more.

Covid gave the opportunity to try something new, so in 2020 he launched his YouTube channel where he reviews tech and guitar equipment, as well as showcasing his playing.

Currently residing in Chicago, he is eagerly awaiting the opportunity to get married after Covid-19 and become the official stepdad to two kids, and continues to marvel at the extremely metal attitude of their 5lb teacup Yorkie.
